+2 tyre choice

I have read much of the tyre choice postings, but cannot find much on specifics relating to Maxxis Tyres. I want to run the original size 165/70 x 13 and my use of the car is enthusiastic but mostly road legal speeds, so max 95 on continental autobahns for instance or an appropriate speed on UK motorways (which, whisper it, seems to be about 85mph)
There is a Maxxis Victra MA-510 of the correct size and rated T(118mph) is anybody using these or have experience of them please? I have been quoted ?55 + per corner by Longstone tyres, which seems very reasonable and I know them to be reliable and suppliers of good tyres for my prewar cars. Your opinions would be welcome

Hi Jack - you may want to re-do your tyre search; the original size is 165 / 80 x 13 which it appears Maxxis don't do...

Uniroyal RainExpert tyres come in 80 series. I have 155-80 R13T front (4.5 inch rims) and 165-80 R13T rears on 5.5-inch rims. I'm not convinced we need H-rated tyres on our cars (I have a S3 SE FHC at about 700kg) as the rating is for the full load rating of the tyre at sustained speed. If the load on the tyre is significantly less then it stands to reason that the speed rating may be slightly higher. In any event 118mph is unlikely to be a sustained speed except perhaps on the Autobahns!

Vredestein used to do the 'Sprint' tyre in 165/80 x 13 but it looks like these are no longer available. They are now listing the 'Sprint Classic' but is only available in 14 or 15 inch rim diameter. I'm guessing that these are a new line and that they'll introduce a 13" version soon. Hopefully...

I recently bought 5 x 165/80/13 Pirelli P3000 from Tyreleader for ?178 delivered, but I wouldn't deal with Tyreleader again

Thanks to all those that shared ideas. After much searching and trying to compare rolling circumference, tyre height etc etc, I have settled on Pirelli P3000 165/80 x R13, which match the original size tyres. They seem to give a reasonable all-round performance (wear, grip, noise etc) for a not unreasonable ?53.40 each, including fitting, balancing, old tyre disposal, from National Tyre
