AVO Damper Rebuild - Great Service

PostPost by: tonyr27 » Thu Dec 04, 2014 9:54 am

My rear dampers were in need of attention on the S3 as handling wasn't good.

Stripped rear and found one had no resistance on compression, spoke to Nigel at AVO posted them last Monday. They arrived back on Friday rebuilt tested for ?48 inc postage.

Hopefully I'll get it back together today!

I didn't think they had much resistance on compression anyway and that most of it was on rebound :?

When I had a faulty one a few years ago where the compression resistance was much harder, the ride was so harsh I used to get headaches from the jarring. Mind you that probably says more about the state of our roads than anything.

Presumably yours were not the std inserts as I didn't think they were rebuildable ?

The really bad one was also leaking fluid and there was no resistance at all. They were AVO dampers that were fitted,no idea how old they were as only had the Elan since March.
