Dellorto Idle Jet Sizes

A theoretical question.
I've considered this for years but never bothered to find out the definitive answer- can anyone help.
I've used Colourtune for years but have always found that weakening off the mixture until only blue appears seems to produce a hesitation when moving off from idle (about 14-1500 revs). If I set the colour to just on the point of yellow this hesitation disappears. Since the slow running circuit affects running until the 2nd choke cuts in could I substitute larger idle jets and then weaken the mixture so that it runs cleaner at idle or is this idea flawed?
Any ideas.
Regards
John

and while we are on this subject it appears that the accelerator pump jets come in as soon as the throttle is moved off stop, how much does this affect the mixture over this period?-and is there a way of backing this function off a little so that the pump jet only comes in when one wants to "boot it"
