Recommend Mechanical Fuel Pump Repair Kit?

PostPost by: Stevie-Heathie » Mon Apr 10, 2023 9:21 am

Happy Easter everybody!

My glass bowl mechanical fuel pump has given up the ghost, leaking a lot of fuel from the diaphragm.

After removing the starter and the oil filter and learning some new swear words I finally got the fuel pump out yesterday. Classic Elan lack of space challenges. Grrr.

Can anybody recommend a UK supplier of a good quality repair kit? There are loads out there but not all include the oil seal, which I definitely need. Also need to be sure the parts are ethanol resistant given E10.

EDIT - or a reliable refurbishment service?

Some photos attached.

Racing to have her ready for Goodwood track day on 29th . . .

Thanks
Steve

Thanks Nick,

Yes I saw your thread earlier. That’s what prompted me to ask about kits.

I think Brian Buckland used to do refurbs but not sure? Have emailed him to ask.

Flexolite are the people you need for all AC mechanical fuel pump parts. They even sell the elusive rubber top hat seal (that doesn't come in a repair kit).

Hello Stevie, which refub. kit did you end up getting?
Was it a difficult job?

Cheers
Paul.

Hi there I went with a brand new mech pump in the end but I wish I’d gone with a seal kit because the dimensions of the casting are never quite right.
