two KN filters with the Stromberg carburetors

hallo!!!

I want to fit two KN filters with the Stromberg carburetors of my S4, but the lid of the engine bay doesn't close at all, the front filter is roughly 40 mm too high .

I've seen that Leifanten did fix the problem, watch the pic of his post date 2010

the only possible solution I see is the following:
1) modification of the back-plate of the front filter that can low it about 30 mm
2) ... then additional 10 mm with a modification of the engine-mounting that could cost a fortune!

Does anybody fix this problem in quicker and cheaper way?

I have fitted a single KN filter (KNRE-0920 - RE-0920 K&N Universal Rubber Air Filter 3-1/2"ID FLG, 6"B, 4-5/8"T, 9"H) at the end of the air box instead, attached to the side near the RHS light pod stop.
