STROMBERG SET UP

PostPost by: Ennva » Mon Mar 17, 2014 9:52 am

All,

Now we are running, brakes, engine etc all sorted, need to turn attention to carbs, engine revs quite happilly once going however the pick up is terrible with what sound like backfire i.e from tickoverr is struggles to get going, once there fine. I have the CD 175 with bottome adjusters.

Any words of wisdom appreciated.

many thanks

My first guess would be that you have an air leak somewhere - I'd look at the mounting O rings, the spindle seals and the vacuum take off to lights / servo. Your observation that it runs ok when revs are up a bit suggests it's less likely to be the diaphragms. I'm also assuming that you're doing the testing when the engine is hot as you can get similar symptoms with good carbs, no choke and a cold engine (or I can anyway :) )

Hi,
You should also check the balance pipe O rings.
I didn't release they were fitted bottom adjusters, always thought it was from the top or not at all

You can buy them as an add on. Useful additional fine adjustment as the top adjustment is problematic (easy to depress the diaphragm while making changes).

I recommend them. Assume you've checked the mixture - i.e it's not running too lean?
