Water temp guage/Fuel guage

PostPost by: graham » Mon Jun 06, 2011 8:04 am

I understand from researching this site that both the fuel and water guages operate thru the volt stabiliser.
Volt stab reads 12v in and 10v out when checked yet fuel reads empty-does not move and temp reads up to 125. New thermostat, sender unit and new rad fan switch. All of which seem to be operating correctly temp wise.
Am I missing something?

Correct, you may have a broken/disconnected fuel sender wire, easy to diagnose, earth the wire at the fuel tank and watch the needle rise to "full",as for the temp.readings you may have a mis-match between your sender/gauge,not easy to diagnose without part numbers...

Or the temperature sender wire could be grounded somewhere along its length?

Thanks John and Stu for replies.
Did checks on fuel sender and found that the float lever was seized. Opened up unit and gave a clean found an adjuster to adjust level, put back together and works a treat. Water temp I still have to check as first readings were with car stationery. I took it for its first drive down to get the front and rear screens fitted and temp sat at 85 plus a little bit so we will keep an eye on it . At present its fitted with a warm crossflow motor but once isuzu gearbox check out have zetec to fit.
Thanks again for your help
