Weber carbs body metal

I was surprised to be told last night that Weber carburetor bodies are made of Mazak (as it is called in the UK), otherwise known as Zamak. This is a mainly zinc alloy with about 3-4% of each of aluminium and copper, with some magnesium also.

Is Mazak used for Weber bodies?

I have heard this of some of Weber's low-priced carbs (they have a very shiny, silvery surface), but have seen nothing authoritative to confirm this. I believe the DCOEs, IDFs, IDAs, and other performance models to be aluminum, based on the two I've welded up, machined, and threaded.

If they are Mazak, I would expect to see some de-zincafication (?) pimples appearing on my 40 year old examples.
