Anyone recognise this fuel pump?

This is what the Elan S3 came with. Not an original pump, but a beautiful solid little piece of engineering.

Stamped AC Spark Plug, model number 12V-EP42
Pat No 3273086
Date 9-80

However.

The rubber bellows just split, and I'm trying to track down a repair kit or supplier of same. No joy through ebay or google. Which is odd, as it's only 30 years old. Can anyone suggest a supplier?

Robert,

I have one that looks very similar manufacturers name on mine is 'Autopulse Walbro Corp, Cass City Mich USA Series 2100 found this link which may be useful if you have to buy a new pump http://www.autoperformanceengineering.c ... _pump.html

Looking at yours I suspect it is an old AC Delco pump http://www.acdelco.com/parts/fuel-pumps/index.jsp

Good lick with it.

Hi,
I also would suggest you look at ACDelco.
Albert Champion founded the spark plugs company named "AC Spark Plug"
which in 1927 is bought by GM. Until 1974 sometimes there are references to "AC Company",
and in 1974 it is renamed ACDelco.
The pumps from ACDelco are named EPxxx, so I this is another hint.

I, too, think it's probably off a US vehicle. Perhaps one of the Forum members could track down a kit in Pep Boys or another of the US motor factors. Any volunteers for our friend?

Thanks for replies. Wow that Autopulse Walpro bears an uncanny resemblence to the AC in design....obviously some patent sharing going on there. Their bellows kit looks very similar....may well get me out of trouble. Meanwhile have fitted an SU pump as temporary replacement.

A bit of googling suggests that AC pump was used on early Minis and tractors. Solid gear.

I had ones like that back in the 70's and 80's on a BMW and on my Elan. It was a "Bendix" brand, but identical in looks. It pumped too much pressure and reqauired use of a pressure regulator. I also rember it was very loud!
Good luck -David
