fuel injection - petrol tank?

PostPost by: jono » Thu Jul 17, 2008 7:43 am

I am having my twink engine rebuilt and will be running it on fuel injection. I am going to have the engine and injection system (probably Jenveys) set up on a bench dyno with a DTA ecu and suitable map so that I end up with a turn key unit.

My question relates to the petrol tank. My Plus 2 has been fitted with a very nicely crafted purpose built stainless steel tank which is currently set up for convetional twin carb induction and has the usual chrome flip lock filler.

Can anyone suggest what mods I am likely to need to do to the tank and filler in order to make it suitable for an injection system?

Cheers

All I've done is fit a T piece in the left hand breather (which I've also connected across to the filler tube) to make a return from the swirl pot, kept the low pressure pump to fill the swirlpot and a feed off there to the injector pump...

Cheers John - good news, I thought I was going to have to have additional spigot/s welded to the tank.

Is your's up and running?

It's running on the ignition part at the moment-wasted spark-and it's made a great difference, will be fitting the throttle bodies in the next few weeks....then the fun begins....tuning.

John,

How about some pictures of your project.

I'm currently in the early planning stage and need as many ideas as possible to make the right decisions on which parts to use.

If only I was IT literate,I've tried many times but they always seem too big....and failed trying to resize them....but I have plenty.

John,

Are those bike bodies, if so which ones?

Further, which injectors have you used?

Cheers, Jono

PS: be interested in seeing your project first hand, I get down to Mansfield to see inlaws now and then which can't be far from you
