PostPost by: Vanden Perre » Wed Apr 23, 2008 5:50 pm

Hello,
Would one of you have some pictures of how and where exactely the original air filter (frying pan) was fixed in the nose of the Elan?
Would be interesting as I want to instal it to my S3.
Thanks.

Olivier,
I have posted some photos of my filter installation in the photos section of Yahoo Autos Lotuselan under Air Filter Mounting. http://autos.ph.groups.yahoo.com/group/lotuselan/photos

If you have an Elan Parts Manual, turn to the cut-away on page 10 and you can see how the filter is angled toward the radiator to stop debris/water from entering the inlets.
Also in the parts book on the diagram-page E10 you can see the two mounting brackets required. I found I had to twist the larger sheet metal bracket to get it to fit satisfactorily. I found, that if I tilted the top of the filter housing toward the front of the car, the ducting fitted a lot easier and with less of a bend.
Colin.
