Electric fuel pump

PostPost by: bcmc33 » Thu Mar 27, 2008 3:35 pm

I know this has been discussed many times on the forum but it doesn?t appear to me to be as simple as I?d thought.

As my car is used every 10-14 days, I want to fit an electric pump to fill the Dellortos more quickly without the usual cranking.

Looking at the Burton Power brochure under the twink heading shows a range of Facet pumps ? solid state and cylindrical. These pumps have a range of pressure and delivery rates which I guess relates to the power rating and type of use of the engine. Somewhere in the back of my mind I seem to remember that Weber/Dellorto carbs should have a maximum presuure supply of 4psi ? if this is correct, it greatly reduces the choice.

For fast road driving ? what pump should I be using in relation to the delivery capacity?

Assuming my engine is 150bhp, does anyone have useful and informed suggestions for me to progress on this subject?

All contributions most welcome.

I have a facet "red top" interrupter type pump fitted to my S4. I use this with a Filter King to ensure the fuel supplied to the carbs is clean and the right pressure.

IMHO you should fit some sort of pressure regulator if you switch over to an electrical fuel pump.

I have a "Facet" solid state 18gal/hr pump to the +2, fitted in the boot on the flange below the fuel tank, and a "Filter King pressure regulator fitted to the bulkhead beside the solenoid.

Completely reliable.
