Hi,
What’s he like with Dellortos? I have tithe QED 420 cams and jetted as per the literature, but it’s seems rich and so a good rolling road/carb man would be great and that’s not too far from me.

I thought andywatts might like to try Mikeanics.

I'm sure he would take Dellortos in his stride, but give him a ring and ask him!

I spent an age playing about with my Webers, but he eventually sorted them out.

Reasonable hourly rates too.

Hi Alpfadave,
could you tell us the costs roughly please as it depends on our Budgets.
Thanks

It's approx 18 months since I was last there.
I think his rate was around £70 ph plus vat.

But give him a ring and ask for his current figure.

Cheers Dave,
i imagine it could take 3 hours so about £300 + roadtest to check under real conditions.
For me i have a Lambda Kit that i've used with good results. I'm lucky to have 3 classic cars and the Lambda kit is a cheaper option for jetting.
Personal choice depending on Budget.

I am struggling with the float level on my 151s help appreciated. It is 29mm below top of float chamber and I'm aiming for 25mm. I have the plastic floats and currently the gap from gasket to centre of floats is 10mm (which appears to be less than quoted) and guessing it will need to be about 6mm, I find the tab quite hard to bend and where it touches the needle valve ball bearing is at the back of the tab so doesn't make much difference. These have been "professionally rebuilt" so history slightly unknown, are there different needle valves? The needle valve washer is 1mm thick
Many thanks

Hi,
I found 29m to be the best level. At 25mm it was too rich at idle and I could not achieve the mixture I wanted. Plugs were lasting a very short time.
Unless you are intending to use Keith Franks jets and then 25mm is correct.

Adjusting the fuel level is pain of job, basically trial and error until you get it close enough.

I've tried making up a holder for the top that allows setting the fuel level in bowl off the car but it wasn't very successful. Also wonder about a jig to help accurately adjust the tab.In the end I've always ended up just making multiple attempts until I got it close enough.

IMO Fuel level is tuning factor, as it effects when the main circuit kicks in (due to vacuum require to lift the fuel from the fuel bowl, the higher the level to low vacuum required.) So want to be able to vary it and set it accurately.

The plastic rod method has been replaced with a a strip of cardboard marked at the desired level with even with the top of the jet well.

The adjustment method attached really saves time and frustration.
