Fuel Mileage - how far on a tank

Just resurrected this thread as I?ve just undertaken a similar journey to Hethel and back.

Achieved 280 miles on a brimmed tank and I still have an eighth of a tank left.

Did a trip down to the French Alps and back last month using the back roads. Not being 100% certain how accurate my fuel gauge was at the bottom end I didn't let it drop much below half way before refilling. One of the fuel stops gave me 220 miles for 22L (full to full). That works out at 45mpg. OK, it's Stromberg car and I wasn't in any great hurry but I was quite pleased with that.
