Guess that might explain the black scorched earth pattern, that can still be seen from space, to this day, then ?

Hi Richard
I do not know about the new Webers
I have a number of carb/bal tools collected over the years and find the Weber Synchrometer for balance to be the best and use 4 colour tunes for the idle/mix along with a rev counter and the Crypton to see what the KV is doing.

I am in the camp that uses a Colortune to set up the idle and a Carbalancer (the 4 manometer thing from carbtune) for the balance.

Tried using a digital / IR thermometer but haven't really pursued that.

Tried a "Synchrometer" (the flow rate measuring thing) which works fine, but the carbalancer give an instant visual indication - much better!

The downside of the Carbalancer is that you need a vacuum takeoff in each port. I installed mine while the head was off during a rebuild but you could do it with the head on the car as long as you were VERY careful with the swarf.

Any conclusions on a chep way to do corner weights?

Regards
Bruce

cheapest way to weigh the car is to take it to a race shop ----you wont be using the equipment after the initial use -----so for a couple of bucks or pounds or what ever you spend you will have answer ---mine was -----392 lf -414 rf 387 lr 401 rr for 1595 lb before the alloy bell housing full tanks and a full 80 pound battery -------so with a gel cell battery and the light bits it should be in the 1480 -95 pound range ----ed

I agree! :) I have now arranged to do just that, when the weather improves.
Second and cheapest option was the lever jack with built in scales which lifts a corner at a time and as well as cheap (150 gbp ish ) looked quick to use. Demon tweeks sells the item. As Ed says only used once so I won't bother buying. Not for a road car.

Happy new year to all.. AB.... 8)
