The washer is #4 & the Starlock is 3/32", but I did put a 3/32 drill through it as the spring wire is .103".

Here's a close up:

I had to buy 50 starlocks, do you want a pair & a washer for your car?

Easiest way to put the starlock (pushnut) on is to "stick" it to a small socket (e.g. 1/8" AF) with grease & push it on.

My Starlock washer came off, so following Herb's advice I threaded the end of the spring 4-40 UNC:

To which I cam assemble a #4 SS washer & 4-40 Nyloc jamb nut:

I will solve this issue (with Bill's help)

p.s. I had to buy a good quality die & 100 locknuts, so if anyone else needs this mod send me your throttle return spring & a self addressed stamped envelope & I will do the mod for you...

Many many moons ago I got fed up with Mr Chapmans curly spring jobber, tried a couple of proprietary throttle cable mountings and eventually made my own that has stood the test of time and is simple. Drawings on request!!

Pretty tough to bend & how would you get it out again to remove the barrel to release the throttle cable?

edit: just read what Rohan wrote again:

rgh0 wrote:I just put a slight bend in the end of the spring. Not so much that you cant push it through the two holes with a bit of steering but enough to stop it coming out again.

Still, took a while but my Ford FMA analysis training came in handy....

Fuel lines do look a bit worse for wear - all replaced years ago so all is well - but thanks for pointing it out.. :D
