Hi guys/Colin,

Anna's picture shows it well. Will it do you ok? If not let me know.

The installation I used is very similar except I have used some compression fittings here n there to allow me to fit the 'bulb 'in the spare wheel area. (I don't carry the spare)

It is a simple solution to the problem that simply works.


Now recovering from my heart bypass operation which has gone very well.
I will use this opportunityto say a big THANK YOU for the many PMs showing support, asking what had happened and wishing me well during a somewhat stressfull time. That really helped me. I can't begin to tell you how much. Thanks!!

I trust that my opinions offered during my (forced) restoration on this Super little car have been helpfull as a lot of you have said publicly as well as in the PMs. To be helpfull was my sole intention. Nothing more. And by the way, I wish my cheque book was that big! It isnt! .... I really do wish it had been in the condition as advertised. I did know what I had bought though.

Hi All,
Again thanks for the amazing support by PM's. It goes to show just how good this forum is. As I said I can't even start to tell you all how much this has helped my recovery. Brilliant! A big thanks also to the couple of guys who went public.
Just amazing! I say keep it up if possible, 'tis doing me the world of good.

It is going to be a few weeks 'till I can drive the elan again. Min 6 weeks recommended anyway, but the Elans non powered steering is not possible at all just now. I am looking forward to it though.

I've just had delivery of one of the hand primer pumps from the ebay vendor. It seems like a good idea in principle but I thought I'd better test it by blowing through it and it presents a quite appreciable resistance to air flow. Bearing in mind the mechanical pump is relatively low pressure, I wonder if it will unduly restrict fuel flow.
Have any of you who've fitted it experienced any subsequent problems with fuel starvation?

I tested the bulb pump that way - almost no noticable resistance.
(I had that concern too) But- the pump I'm using has simple, cheap plastic fittings at the end

So it looks as though there's an internal difference between the two kinds of pump, or maybe just something wrong with mine. I'm tempted to take it loose to see how it works. On the other hand, I've got a clear plastic filter already fitted at the tank end and that allows me to see the petrol going through, so I could just try it out.
On the other hand again, just because the fuel's going through doesn't mean the flow hasn't been restricted enough in the long term to put a strain on the pump.

I have a little resistance on mine but it's not a lot. All it is is a small non return valve. The one I bought cost only 7 quid from memory and is 8mm dia in / out.

No sign of fuel starvation at all but I am not hammering it yet (have not ran it for three weeks now)

Give it a try. If its not right it is a dead easy fix.

I've got one fitted (thanks Anna), I've continued to hammer it and it works as it did pre-bulb.
