Dellorto Question

PostPost by: mark030358 » Fri May 17, 2024 8:43 pm

Hi,
From the pictures below, are these holes (pointed to by the red arrows) to allow air into the emulsion tubes? Also if the fuel level in the bowl exceeds the height of these holes will the fuel find its way into the venturi?

thanks
Mark

Mark, I believe you are correct on both counts and the carb will flood if the level reaches those drillings.

I have another question too…
The float heights. The Dellorto shutoff valve has a spring loaded pin to close the valve. From what I have read the carb should be held vertically and the distance set when the float is just touching this spring.

This spring protrudes a long way out of the valve body, so with the weight of the floats hanging vertically is this possible… It’s doing my head in

OK going to close this one out.

I finally fixed my Dellorto issue, I changed out the needle valves and floats. The new floats were supposed to be 8.5 gms but when I weighed then they came in at 10gms, exaclty the same as my old floats. See level to 27mm and all was good. I found it much much easier to set the new floats than the old ones. Anyway, my guess was the needle valve/s.

cheers

Well done Mark
Sorry couldn’t help with my Webers!
Spent yesterday afternoon taking my carbs off to fiddle with fuel pump.
