weber 18T?

Sorry I'm just posting all these "anyone ever seen this?" posts but.....

anyone ever seen this?

Weber DCOE "18T"

I can't find any info anywhere about what the T is, also odd is the "8L" below where there would normally be a bigger serial type number.

I'm really just worried that the "T"may mean something like that it has some change that makes it different to the plain 18 models and not suited to the Elan. If anyone has a clue about what the T means it would be greatly appreciated.
I'm hoping the suffix means nothing but that seems rare in carb world.

Turbocharged?

If the jet access cover has a seal and not the crenellated ring breather type, if the spindles have sealed bearings and the float chamber vent is a large hole on the air filter mounting face beside a trumpet then the carbs can be used with forced induction.

Editted, the forum software has made the c*****ated word above into a vigilink for an over the shoulder boulder holder :D

i'd add the following uneducated comment: if it has the the three progression holes (as the 31s do) you should be all set! sandy

Hi Jim

I have seen several sets of these over the years as well as the 45DCOE 13T. My understanding is that these carburettors were supplied via Weber agents in later years as opposed to those fitted to the engines when the cars left the factory in period (serial numbers stamped into lids).
The lids on the later 40DCOE 18T carburettors should have three rings cast into them and the lower number l would assume to be just a batch number.
No problem with their function, they work equally as well. I?ve overhauled quite a few.
