Gasoline pressure

Hi
When my gasoline pump stalled on my plus 2, i installed a Fazet gasoline pump. It's working fine, when the car is up and running, no starvation problems!. But i have trouble with flooding In the start up. I am suspecting the pump of deliviring to High gasoline pressure, and suspecting the needles in the webers to be to week or old to handle/ shut down gasoline.
I Think i have to put In some pressure regulator device.
Do any of you have experience doing so?
And what pressure is the Right for webers?
And what brand/ model of regulator would you recommend?
Would like to have a good qualaty setup.
Regards
Otto

I've got an electric pump on my Elan. At the time there were two pressures available, one for injection systems and another at a stated 4psi for carburetors. The workshop manual shows a maximum 2.5psi for the mechanical pump so I was hesitant at taking the 4psi as ok.
Once installed I also had some flooding so I rebuilt the carburetors with new needle valves and from internet searching found various recommendations for pressure, ranging from 2psi to 4psi. In the end I fitted an adjustable regulator after the pump which allows me to go from 1 to the full 4psi so I had the options covered.
It's been set at 2psi which seems to be working ok for my driving style. (slow)

Hi,
It's nothing special or expensive, just a simple regulator that I bought from Ebay UK labelled as "Pro Flow" by Sytec which I'd never heard of until it arrived !
I'll try to upload a photo showing how it goes together.

I've been using one of these - http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/performance/fuel-pressure-regulators/malpassi-filter-king-fuel-pressure-regulator-and-filter since I fitted an electric pump about 25yrs ago.
I've no idea what pressure its set to and it doesn't seem to matter - whichever end of the scale I set it to the engine seems to work ok, but I'm using it to feed Strombergs and they may not be as sensitive as Webers.

I seem to recall that the Webers call for no more than 3 psi. I had that issue back on 1972! when I put a fuel pump on my first Elan. Bought it at the local hot rod shop. It was meant for 4 barrel Hollys. Completely flooded the csrbs.

I have one of those Filter Kings's too, though mine is the 87mm one with six screws holding the pressure diphragm chamber on the top.

I don't know what it is set to as it was set for me by Vegantune of Finchley when they installed it, but robably about 2.5 psi.
