Full maintenance kits are available for the Dellortos and there's an excellent book called:
"How to build and power tune Weber and Dellorto DCOE DCO/SP and DHLA Carburettors" by Des Hammill.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_nos ... es+Hammill
So unless the bodies are totally corroded I can't see any really good reason for trying to get new ones. I'm not at all sure that the relevant Webers are available in any case.

What Bill said. Parts are available, so there's no reason at this time to make a switch. Contact Matthew Cooper at Eurocarb Ltd for all your Dellorto needs.

More directly to your question, the Weber DCOE 40 has the same major dimensions as the Dellorto DHLA 40, including the mounting flange. It's a direct bolt-up in terms of fit, but it will require 'Weber' jetting. Fortunately, there's a history of Webers being used on Lotus engines, so you would have a starting point.
IMHO, Dellortos were an upgrade from Webers. Going back is not an improvement, but it may be an option when the day finally arrives (not today) when Dellorto parts are no longer available. I will keep my Dellortos in fighting trim until all other options are exhausted.

Dellorto also made a wide range of single barrel carbs for motorcycles and small engines. The manual mentioned is for motorcycle tuning, and doesn't apply to the DHLA's used on Lotus engines.
On the Eurocarb website, http://www.dellorto.co.uk/ , in the left margin, there are links to Dell'Orto Motorcycle Carbs, Dell'Orto Vintage Motorcyle Carbs, and Dell'Orto Car Carbs. Choose carefully.
