Weber Jets- changes to original spec, any advice?

Hi Everyone,

I have been servicing the Weber DCOE 18 carburetters fitted to my 2965 Elan S2 and i noticed that the main and air corrector jets have been changed from their original size by a previous owner. According to my manual the main jet should be 115 and the air corrector should be 200. My car is fitted with a main of 117 and air corrector of 180. I realise that the number corresponds to the size in mm so in fact my main jet is larger than original and the air jet is smaller.

Is there any experts on fuel systems that can explain what these changes will make to the performance of the car? and should i leave them as they are or return then to the original sizes?

Leave them as they are Baz, if the car runs fine. It is unlikely that the PO just threw them in because he had them lying around. He probably had the car on a rolling road, and that was what was thrown up as needed. The ONLY way to optimise settings and power out of a twin cam, is to get it set up properly on a rolling road, and once done, thats it for life as far as the jets are concerned.
