stromberg carb damper oil loss

hi,
I experience some oil loss in the carb dampers of my stromberg. I remember that I removed the adjustable needles and fitted a new oil seal but that has not fully cured the problem.
Has anyone managed to cure this problem?
I would like to cure this because now I have to top up the chambers often and if I overfill the car runs too rich, not enough oil and it is running too lean.
cheers

I had the slow leak in both carbs about 15-20 years ago, fitted the o-ring seals to the needles and they've been fine since. Here is an account of servicing the seals, from memory it sounds correct.

How sure are you that you are filling to the correct level? They can be overfilled but still look proper and when the pistons are lifted some of the oil can be drawn through the clearance around the tube. This would eventually lead to the proper level if the o-ring seal doesn't leak either.

Thanks Alex for the information. I will re-install an new set of O-rings and fill up to the correct level and hopefully that will cure it.
