Fuel Injection

Hi
My project for the winter will be, I hope to fit fuel injection to my 71 Elan Sprint. I am hoping for some response from an owner who has already completed the conversion. I am not looking for more power but hope for better fuel consumption & better run
ng. I have been looking at a QED set up on the basis they have the most experience in this field and not necessarily the cheapest option.

There was the first of a two part article on fitting fuel injection to your elan, in the latest Lotus Drivers Club magazine. Article was a good and informative read if you can get hold of it.

Berni on here was looking at adapting some bike carbs to fit fuel injection on a Twin Cam, I think. Not sure how he got on.
Emerald make a very programmable ECU which may be of use,

Or for the complete DIY'er there's the Megasquirt ECU
http://www.megasquirt.info/ This is fitted to a number of Caterfield 7 type cars.
For DCOE fitting Throttle Bodies there are some here
http://www.jenvey.co.uk/
My Zetec +2 runs with the Emerald and uses Jenvey Throttle Bodies and the injectors from an old Vauxhaul Astra GTE.
One other area to think about is the fuel, the Zetec (Spyder) route uses a Swirl Pot fed from the tank and Pump in the boot and then a pressure regulator near the Throttle Bodies. This has a return to the swirl pot, so I think you'll need to add another fuel line.
In principle, I can't see why any of this would be different for a Twink.

Once the rebuild is finished, next winters project for me will be injection as well. I'm planning to use emerald and jenvey throttle bodies. Unless I can find a way of keeping the webbers and having a "stealth" installation! Dave walker did a series of DIY injection systems in Cars and Car Conversions several years ago, where he cut up old DCOEs to use as throttle bodies, has any one got a copy?
