Cleaning Webers?

Any suggestion on how to clean up my Webers on my 69 S4?

There only seems to be one place in the south of England who still deal with Webers and they want ?150 each!

Anyone have access to an ultrasound cleaner?

The cleaners come up on ebay fairly regularly..

I've found a nifty gallon paint can with drain bucket. I haven't stuck a Weber in the drink yet so can't confirm fit, but I think it'll go. For small carbs, I just

- Dimantle everything
- Set aside anything plastic or rubber
- Dump all of the metal parts in to soak for 24 hours or so.

When removed, the carb will look new. For really persistent gunk, a light toothbrushing will finish it off. Make sure all residue is removed and everything is dry before reassembly.

The Weber carb kit has pretty much everything you need, but if you don't have an O ring or other item, don't let it soak! I made that mistake with rare Honda MC O rings -- they grow and won't fit back where they belong.

150 pounds to rebuild a Weber is nice money. Get the book and you can manage it fine by yourself for less than 20 percent of that.

Redex? What's that? Sounds like a spinoff from FedEx or so. Dunno if I'd like to give my carbs to them...
Never heard of RedEx - hence the question.

Redex is/was a petrol additive .When you filled up with petrol in the 50`s/60`s you asked for " a shot per gallon ". It was ment as an upper cylinder additive .I`m showing my age now

So I guess it is a naphta product then.
Are there any other good products to clean your carbs with?
Am contemplating a bridge with Mikunis foor my Twink when I have it here, is supposed to make one h*ll of a difference.
Just screw them on every now and then when it is funtime on a trackday or so. Otherwise just going to run the Webers as the are what the lady was delivered with.

Redex is intended for cleaning the inside of your carbs, the valves and upper cylinder; which it does very well. However, it is also brilliant for cleaning the outside of the carbs! Brushed on and left overnight it will get rid of all the black stuff, the brown pertol gum and just about everything else.
I have used it to get rid of those pot-hard deposits which build up on the back of valves, another overnight soak and it will just wipe off!
