Crankcase Breather Pipe

Should the breather pipe that originally went to the airbox just be a push fit?
Should there be any pressure from it and if so, how much?

On my Stromberg equiped Elan the breather pipe is a push fit at both ends.

hi jim

on my '74 elan +2 130/5 webber head the pipe is fitted withclips on each end
