Hi
Any recommendations for a(UK supplied) rattle can crinkle paint for an S4 SE cam cover? It’s a kind of orangey red. I did find this https://www.amazon.co.uk/VHT-PAINT-Wrin ... B077VYVWBS but it is red so not as Lotus original colour.
Thanks
JonB

Interesting question JonB.
I used the product in your link and think it looks pretty good in their red. Also available in black. I understood that is the product we have all used for this application, but I guess we will see. Certainly it is the only popularly available product I could find our side of the pond.
Perhaps you could overcoat the red crinkle paint with engine enamel from the same supplier? It appears to use the same curing procedure and comes in a broader range of colours. I must say the colour sample on the web doesn’t look that different to my eye though.

This link (to a UK supplier) might be a better representation of the actual orangey colour though

Just a suggestion.

I've used their crinkle paint in black on my Alfa Twincam cover, and it's great, easy to use, no need to upset the Mrs putting it in the oven either.....
When it's touch dry, refit the cover, and take the car for a drive. The heat from the engine does the trick beautifully. Two or three trips out complete the job.

Ah now, Stu... that Chevvy Orange paint isn't crinkle. I re-read what you wrote and I get it. I think going over a crinkle surface with another paint might affect the finish, sort of smooth it out perhaps? Not for me I think, but a good idea neverthheless.

I’ve used VHT red and black numerous time with great success. I blast clean with proposal heat cover in bathroom x with hot air gun then follow instructions.
After coating I put box over with hot air gun heating air to bake it. Comes out with a nice tight wrinkle finish.
Razor and fine sand to expose letters and job done.
I’ll find and post a few pictures of covers ive done.
