Cheap thermostat housing for £10 on Ebay UK, item no 251958942442. Fits the Lotus bolt holes.
Points 90 deg at the LH wing, so put a bend on the top hose.
Has facility for an otter switch.
32mm od spigot

Also good for bleeding air out of the system...highest point.

It's a standard Ford part.
Oddly enough it isn't the highest point, I have that on my system & the coolant in the thermostat housing has just about the same clearance as the coolant under the radiator cap.

Sorry but,
Personal choice i prefer the Otter Switch in the Rad lower down so always surrounded by coolant. Switching on Fan when Rad is at cut-in temp.

This setup also moves the expansion tank take off to the new filter neck. You can see the reinforced hose in the picture. So the fan switch is surrounded by coolant if the system is correctly filled/bleed.
Of course it does mean you need to do something with the filler neck on the radiator. I had mine blanked off but could just filter a higher pressure cap.
