Fitting 711M block engine to Elan

Hi All,
I'm considering fitting a twin cam with a 711M block into my Elan. I know the engine is slightly taller but there are (apparently) engine mounts that will drop the engine enough so it doesn't fowl the bonnet. However, does't this cause a problem with the alignment of the gearbox to propshaft and so to the rear diff, as the engine sits lower? Also does the chassis need adjusting?
Any answers would be appreciated!!

Yes, Yes, & Yes! But issues can be addressed, even if you use the tall block.
In my case I built a QED solution and built the QED 420S spec engine on a decked 711M block. It clears the bonnet and does not cause any of these issues. (145bhp) Also you will need a water pump housing spacer (approx 3/16”)
Good luck.
