Re Timing Chest-Loctite or Never Seize?

Doing a Burton Water Pump converson. Just wondering what the standard practice is when bolting up. Use blue loctite to ensure bolts remain tight or use Never Seize grease to prevent thread corrosion?

It depends on which bolts you are talking about. I use blue Loctite on the single backplate bolt only. That is certainly one bolt you don’t want coming loose as it’s inaccessible. For the bolts securing the cartridge I use thread sealant (not thread locker). Thread locker is a pain to clean off the threads come service time and “locking” effect here is unnecessary. Anti Seize can be a bit slippery and cause over tightening of the bolts if you tighten to factory spec. All you need here is a thread sealant. Stop air and moisture reaching the thread and you have eliminated the chance of corrosion occurring.
