Question re demister vents - is this right?

I am in the process of replacing the dash in my S2 as the veneer has all peeled off. Upon removing the dash I found this. The demister vents seem like they are at the wrong angle, certainly the tubes need to go through contortions to connect. Is this right? Has something been assembled incorrectly?

My car is an early S4 with the S3 demister grill. The connections are the same as shown in your photograph.

It's what happens when you use a London Taxi heater box in combination with a Ford Corsair de-mister grille!
