Driveshaft attached to transmission doing engine install?

I personally think the Dynamat/Dodo matting stuff is a bit too heavy for our cars, I am all for keeping things light, and would also agree that due to the typical leaky nature of the Lotus anything that is stuck down will get damp/wet and stink.
The other issue though is that poppers and fastners for carpet eventually go rusty and corrode so I was wondering about using velcro pads instead which although stuck down could easily be replaced.

The problem with Velcro Pads when you detach between the 2 Pads the one stuck to the Body comes unstuck. Unless it's Pop Rivetd in place.
The original Poppers can be found in plastic and fixed in place with stainless screws or alloy Pop Rivets.

I have not done any searching so I wasn't aware that the Poppers can be found in plastic......Thanks for that!

There is minimal difference between the weight of traditional thick felt (especially if it gets wet!) and Dodomat that is only a couple of millimetres thick, and as it’s just a self adhesive rubber sheet with an aluminium foil bonded to it, it doesn’t absorb water and if applied correctly water can’t get under it either, but I understand it’s not original and therefore not for everyone.
I’ve used a mixture of both types, dodomat on the floors and anywhere water could lay and traditional felt over the tunnel and behind the rear seat and around the fuel tank.

Thanks for the discussion on sound deadening, I thought I was supposed to be adding lightness, no? :D

Let me get the bloody thing running and then will tackle this part of the interior refresh, but agree on being able to easily dry things out (even here in SoCal). Plastic poppers is a clever approach, and there should be sound deadening options that are closed cell/non absorbent.

Need to get all the ancillaries sorted, install cooling system, fit brake and clutch hydraulics etc then time to make some noise. Hoping to have a substantial update by EOD tomorrow.

Nice to see it done, just for interest, is that a sealed for life coupling or does it have a grease nipple?

This has become a community car based on all of the help people have graciously offered.

Will need to double check but I believe it has a grease nipple.
