ZETEC HELP PLEASE

I have a silver top Zetec from a 1995 Ford Contour - I am looking for advise on determining displacement / horsepower.for same.
There is a computer bar code label on the front black plastic timing chain cover with the # 54G-776-BA - 05/12/95 printed on it.
I got this with a partially restored Spyder framed '72 S4 Federal Sprint coupe that I purchased from David Seville - Peck before he died here on Vancouver Island. Zetec's are not an off the shelf item here by any means and I wish to get on with the rebuild this coming winter but I want to confirm what I have first.
Best sources for conversion parts? Any help will be appreciated.
Bill

Bill,,
I am nearing completion of the installation of a 2L silver to Zetec in my Plus 2. I just ordered to Weber 152G carbs, those configured with the 5 progression holes. I am told that with these carbs, one can expect between 160 and 170 horsepower, without adding alternate cam shafts, but constructing a tubular exhaust.
I have done all the work to adapt the engine to a 2000E transmission, and along with Bud English have figured out the flywheel/driven disc/clutch cover/ annular throwout to make things work. All of these parts, incuding a carb friendly intake manifold are readily available on line.
Bud has been a wealth of knowledge when it comes to installing a Zetec, though, his is a blacktop. The engine mounts shown in the Mods section by C42 work like a charm. I can supply a bunch of photos of what I have done to make this mod work, and can forward via email.
If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact me. Can be reached at: [email protected] or, h760 741 3514. If you call and I don't answer, leave a message.

I don't know about that whole "wealth of knowledge thing, but what has helped us both is the sharing of ideas back and forth. It is a different project than it is for someone in the UK with multiple local sources for parts at hand, up to and including specialists the will do the whole swap.
The internet is your friend and there's not a lot of difference between dropping a zetec into an Anglia and into your car other than the tightness of the fit. Like Rob, any info I can provide, I'm glad to do.

Bill,
I think one of the easiest indications is the capacity cast into the block, on my silvertop, there's a '20' on the right hand side under the inlet manifold, I've also see 18 on a 1.8 blacktop, so they seem to be consistent on UK engines.
It'll be next week before I can get down to my workshop but I could take a pic of the cast number in the side of the block when I do.
best regards

Bill,
I just looked at one of the pages on the link provided by c42 (John) and you can see the engine displacement casting number in one of them:
http://www.turbosport.co.uk/showthread. ... cdfac8b4d6
I thought mine said 20 but it looks like it should be 2.0
Also, with DHLA40's, a big bore exhaust and an ECU (only firing the spark plugs), I believe it is supposed to put out around 145-150bhp. It does have re-profiled cams which might've taken it a little higher but I need to rebuild it first to try it.
best regards
