Xflow oil pick up in Twin Cam?

PostPost by: Davidb » Fri Feb 03, 2017 8:19 pm

I am rebuilding my engine with a block that came without the oil pump pick up tube. I am going to fit Col Croucher's oil pan baffle arrangement. Does anybody know if the cross flow pick up pipe sold by Burton will fit? I realise it may need lengthening but it is the part that pushes into the block I am concerned about:

My block is a 2731 6015 1967.

The press fit oil pick up hole was the same in all the later 1500 and 1600 blocks that used this arrangement from around 1968 on. The Burton pick up looks like it is designed for the rear bowl Escort . It is listed for Cortinas also but they used a straight pickup the same as Elans as they have the same front bowl sump.

For the baffled sump you intend fitting you will need to modify the pickup to position it in the centre of the front sump bowl so this Burtons pickup looks as good a starting point as any.

cheers

Thanks Rohan, that is how it appears to me. As long as the pipe size is the same was my concern and it allows the central positioning of the oil pick up.
