Fuel pump blanking plate.

Having installed an electric fuel pump, I've fitted a plain blanking plate to the mechanical pump aperture.
Now I'm wondering if a baffle on the back of the plate is desirable/essential?

Nope,as long as it stops the oil coming out of the hole....

Just a plain flat plate on mine. Doesn't seem to be a problem.

Ok. Thanks for the reassurance.
I had just noticed the Burton offering complete with baffle. I assume this deflects oil splash towards the breather from the jackshaft.

Hi Dougal,
I'm assuming you mean the blanking plate with baffle available through Burton's and pictured below. I bought one for my engine on the basis that there is no harm in it being there and it's only a small extra cost. I think however that it's more critical on the pushrod OHV engine than the Twin Cam. When a catch tank elbow connector is fitted in lieu of the standard oil separator can on the pushrod engine there is nothing between it and the spinning camshaft below so the baffle should greatly assist in preventing oil being fed to the catch tank in this circumstance. The twin cam has the drain tube between the head and block in this position so probably not so critical.

I just re-used the existing bolts as they didn't appear to foul. Quarter inch plate but no spacer.
