711 Block Engine

I have just bought a Twin cam engine which was removed from a 1974 Plus 2 S130 car and it has the Big Valve cam cover. It would appear that this engine has a block with 711M6015BA cast on the left hand side and I don't think it has the large letter L under the right hand engine mount area. Does this mean that the engine would not be suitable for an Elan Sprint. What is the significance of a 711 block?
