Vauxhall XE 'Red Top' engine in Elans - any out there?

This post is sparked by an earlier one during which it was suggested that there are Elans fitted with Vauxhall XE engines.

I have recently recommissioned an S2 Europa that was rebuilt around 15 years ago by Banks Europa, with a new chassis, suspension and Vauxhall XE engine. The power provided by the engine, plus modern reliability is fantastic - Kent fast road cams, QED solid lifters, fuel injection with Luminition throttle bodies and rev limit up to 8000rpm, 210 bhp and a great sound, what's not to like!!

These engines are fairly widely used in motorsport and it seems to me would be great alternative to Zetec in an Elan - does anyone have any experience? Not thinking of converting my two TCs but thought this may be of interest to others too.

I'm no purist but have now changed the red vauxhall spark plug cover for a plain stainless one!!!
