S4 engine number

I'm looking at a 1970 S4 FHC that apparently has engine number 423002 - can't work out whether that might be the original engine, can anyone advise please? It has a Stromberg head fitted.

Suspect that 4 is wrong and should be the letter L. The rest of the number would be right for a late S4.
