How to remove old wrinkle paint?

Because of the gearbox engine is out.
I checked the compressions before pulling it out, and it will need a refresh.
I cleaned it before thinking of moving it somewhere in the house or to a shop.
A lot of the wrinkle paint went off. So I guess I will have to paint it myself or have it done cause I have been clumsy enought to talk to wifie about using the oven....
Well, I would like advices on how to remove the wrinkle paint that remains ? tips?

I presume you are talking about the cam cover paint. My big valve cam cover on my Plus2S 130 /5 was smooth gloss black with ribs and logo polished. I thought all the big valve covers were the same and smooth? I am sure Tim knows the answer

I've found the best way to remove the paint from cam covers (and engines if they are dismantled) is to use a paint stripper.
Nitromors used to be a good product before health and safety made it change the formula and it has become quite weak along with all the others I have tried.
You can still get them to work effectively if you paint the part with the paint remover then wrap/enclose the part in a plastic bag and leave it overnight, the next day the paint will have become soft and it can be brushed off using a wire brush (I prefer a brass wired brush)
Obviously the part has to be thoroughly washed off afterwards which I do with a paraffin (kerosene) spray gun then a wash with water or cheap thinners if I am going to paint it.
I paint stripped an engine the other day which had been painted grey over a red enamel and it brushed off quite easily.
My Sprint BV cam cover is crinkle black although I have seen them in red crinkle and believe the BV cam covers were crinkle from the factory.

Hi
Last time I did my cam cover I removed all loose paint and repainted as was applying more or less as required in each area looked quite good, always worth a go

I did mine last year, started off by using paint stripper in the kitchen sink, here's the progression:
Took 2 or 3 coats to get everything off:
Primed:
Wrinkle finish painted:
and baked on in the cooker!
And Installed:
Really glows in the engine bay, but you'll be doing boring Black!
p.s. SWMBO was away during this process... when she came back "have you been doing anything... it smells strange in the kitchen" me "Hmm hadn't noticed anything.."

Phil you forgot the golden rule after using the oven you should always cook a curry to mask the smell and keep swmbo happy

Phil how much for the whole painting system?:
- paint stripper
- cleaner
- wrinkle paint
A pro can do it for me:
- stripping sand blasting
- painting with spray gun
- cooking
- sanding letters and stripes
- varnishing the bare aluminium letters

Ok Lacquer thinner = 3e
paint primer for metal spray = 22.50 e
wrinkle paint spray ( red or black ) = 24
total = 49.5 +20% VAT= 59.4 e
+ shipping approx 10e
= 79.4 euros
And I have not bought yet the sand paper neither check if my cam cover fit in the oven
The guy does it for 115 e excluding shipping. I think I will let him do it. ( http://www.wrinkle-effect.fr/ )

Hahaaaa!!!!
I went back home for lunch and took some time to karcher blast my cam cover.
It seems like its original colour might have been red!!!!
I found red underneath the black
