Modern Gaskets: 1st 300 miles - awesome!!

PostPost by: el-saturn » Thu May 01, 2014 7:43 pm

just covered the first 300 miles (500 k s) with new tech (NO GASKETS) and so far tight as an oyster: instead of goin? to my wine cellar (instead of other things) I currently move the s3 a few feet forward (or backword) to see IF anything needs:........................ but they don?t. here you?d paint a cross to yr ceiling if you?d continue, because this stuff has, as we know, has a devlish component, because a few miles later you may see this first m. .... drop, but I feel very very confident - almost a miracle cheeeeeer-i-oooooooo sandy (thanks nicholas!!!)

is what the stuff is called. it's supposed to be gas, oil, water (you name it) resistant and I'm amazed
as to how dry she is (OK, she's without gender!) without even going after the sump or maybe the usual
aeroquip leak. ----------------------- my pal kurt was right! apline greetings

hi chief - that?s the stuff; covered another 50miles yesterday and still unbelievably dry - I think
I can already quit including my beauty in my prayers! tomorrow?s our (a) 50 yr LOTUS (and other BRITS)
meet in Zug (a one and a half hour drive each way) which four Loti will join: a 23 (replica, which is a 100% copy), a Seven TC, a Europa (wankel 150hp) and my 36/4982 ----------------- so it?s thumbs up tomorrow! sandy

Hi Sandy

I have just noticed that your car is very close in chassis number to mine, mine is 4970.
They must have sat very close to each other on the production line at the factory.

Your car is one of the first few coupes out of the factory (IIRC)

I'm still restoring mine (tenth year at present - I got a little sidetracked along the way  ) but it would be nice to see both cars together one day.!

Hope the meet goes well, any chance of some pictures?

Sorry for the post hijack!

All the best

Wonder if this could be used to reconstruct the rubber seal's in old wiper wheel boxes? Or if anyone has a better idea for that. Very tired of getting wet knees during a downpour.

Should have been more specific....I mean the rubber seal on the wheel box shaft directly under the the wiper arm.
Not intending on stealing the tread though!
