Dry Sump (Hart) suggestion: please comment!

PostPost by: el-saturn » Sat Mar 29, 2014 2:00 pm

g'day! here's two sketches (two versions of same setup) of how i figure my new (not really) pump should get hooked up: may I assume that all of these (titan, pace, cosworth etc..) are the same and if not can you tell me
where I'm wrong?!?! .................. maybe i'll be chasing the easter rabbit in a couple of weeks (that's the plan).
thanks for any assistance sandy 36/4982

A bit difficult ot visualize from your sketch but the flowpath looks correct. The Burton power catalog has a flowpath showing the correct layout for a typical dry sump system.

I'm currently in the process of dry sumping a Cosworth YBB motor in a Lotus Europa. The oil pump shown is similar to your Brian Hart with one extra scavenge stage. I do not plan on adding an oil cooler at this time but the flowpath is similar to yours. The top right of the photo shows an adaptor for a remote oil filter. I'm not however too clear on where the hose from the pump outlet from the oil tank goes to for the remote oil filter.

The diagram that I used for my dry sump pump is the same as your bottom drawing.
Mine has an expanded description on the out to oil cooler side in that it states Out to dry sump tank top via coil cooler.
Hope it helps
Good luck

This is from my BDG, it has a Hart dry sump system. It is the cosworth instructions for dry sump installation on BD engine.
Hope it helps.
