Accuspark glitch

Finally got around to fitting my Accuspark electronic ignition. Nice piece of kit but appears to have a major design flaw, ie the rev limiting rotor fouls on it as per pic below. Has anyone else encountered this, and if so, found a remedy? If it comes to a choice I'll have a rev limiter and points any day......and I'll be letting Accuspark and their local outlet know!
Any advice welcomed

Robert, their rev limiter box is only about 30 quid and works well. I would sooner run that than rely on an HT cut out. My opinion so don't stone me. Mike

Yep I have exactly the same issue when I fitted mine not so long ago. I had to ditch the rev limiting rotor arm and put in a standard one. Luckily I had one lying around from an old crossflow dissy.
I should look into something electronic as a rev limiter really, currently have nothing. Do you have a link to some info on the Accuspark one mentioned above.

Thanks for replies, have had a look on eBay and I can get an accuspark rev limiter for the price that mike mentioned. Looks like it was a false economy buying a cheaper accuspark instead of the more expensive pertronix (which I know doesn't foul, been running one on my other twink for ages) I'll probably ditch this one and get a pertronix, would prefer to keep the rev limiter as ACBC intended.
So I have an unused accuspark for sale, if anyone interested, PM me!

Thanks Jon, all things considered will just keep the mod basic, ie replacing the points with "fit and forget" ignition

I didn't know he intended to install electronic ignition!!

Hi
Ditched my rev limiter years ago
they were never very reliable to cut out at a safe rpm, I rely on the rev counter
An electronic limiter is a better idea even with points if it is possible.

Rev limiters of old were horrid, when you hit it it would cut dead then fire up at full power and cut again.
If you were careless you could break something in the drive line.
Around the 70's soft cut rev limiters came in and just cut every forth spark, then every other spark if the revs kept rising.
I fitted an early one from micro dynamics with points and it was very smooth and safe.
It also had a switch that would immobilise in the mid position or bypass the electronics and rev limiter in an get you home mode.
later I replaced the points with a Lucas AB13 Hall effect pointless set up. so I had electronics driving electronics.
It seems a bit silly but it kept the rev limiter and did away with the points.
Of late the rev limiter stopped working and would only work in EMG mode. So I have the black box from Accuspark and a spare distributor ready to fit when I finish the present round of work.
But yes you can have useful rev limiters on points systems.
