Alternator Mounting Brackets

I read somewhere that the metal alternator mounting brackets off a MK2 Ford Escort would fit the twincam engine. Is this the case and if so does it matter which version of the Escort it comes from? My reason for asking is that they seem to be very expensive parts to buy new.

Yes they do fit, I bought mine from Classic Escorts last time I needed one, about ?12. The 1600 Crossflow Escort bottom bracket it all you need, the adjustable link from the dynamo works well enough. You might need to manufacture some spacers to bring it all into line with the waterpump pulley. SOme people make a new top bracket that uses several of the mounting boklts for the timing case, but in 30 years I've never found that necessary.
