I saw a crashed Lotus Elan in a breakers yard many years ago in which all 4 inlet pipes of the cylinder head had sheared across. Was that what had happened to yours? Or were you converting a Stromberg head to Weber style?
I was never sure whether they had sheared do to a full frontal crash or whether the breakers yard had broken them by trying to pick uo the car with a grab, front and rear. THe engine was pushed back, but the carbs had been stopped by the rear of the engine compartment.
At the time I did not realise that the head could be mended or I would have bought the engine, but as it was I only bought the Diff & propshaft.

OR the threads were so worn that the owner had to add more meat: in any case this was the only acceptable solution I came up with. once all the rest is
