Painting Cam Cover

I have removed all traces of old paint from my cam cover and degreased it. I intend to use the black crackle finish aerosol. Does anyone know if you can spray this onto the bare aluminium or does it require some form of primer that suits aluminium?

It's pretty straight forward - but this might help:

If the cover has not been polished the surface is textured anyway and I find that ordinary satin black paint gives a pleasing finish. Not as durable as the crackle finish perhaps but easier to wipe clean and simple to redo if it does get chipped or scraped.

Hi There
I resprayed my cam cover with crakle paint about 3 years ago. I stripped it back to bare aluminium used an etch primer then followed instructions on the tin of crakle finish paint. It still looks good and hasnot shown any signs of flaking off.
Good luck
Andy
