engine oil supply

Has anyone modified a block to input oil directly into the left side (main) gallery. This would be instead of through the pump on the right side and using a four port, dry sump, pump.
Like the attached photo.
If so, what was your procedure and do you have any pictures. Or just pictures of another mod.
Thanks

Hi
Of course its a lot easier with the Ford Crossflow engine as the oil can be fed directly into the block through the front of the main oil gallery. There were no front covers that got in the way. A method used with the Twincam was to machine and tap out the top right hand engine mounting lug so that it would accept a suitable oil union. The drillings do not line up exactly as the bottom of the new threaded hole breaks into the top of the main oil gallery but it does expose a sufficiently large enough hole The engine mounting was then modified so the block was supported by three bolts.

In your photo of that block there is what looks like a blanking hole cast into the main oil gallery (just at the left side of the big oil takeoff) that runs all the way from front to back of the engine - you could tap that, similar to what was done on this Vegantune Formula Junior Twincam I owned. The only difference being the block never had that actual "blanking" that the one in your picture has (which I guess is a 86.5mm FVA block?)
Then there is an additional oil drilling added at the top of the engine mounting on the oil pump side - this would have been the take off that went around to the drilling in my other picture.

Another option is to put the pump output into the gallery where the oil pressure sensor take off goes just to the front of the oil pump. On some blocks this is a large enough tapped hole to go straight in without modification. In other blocks you would need to drill and tap it as a larger hole.
