I did 174 miles and i fuelled up 35 liters in the tank.
That is 12, 5 liter / 100 KM.
Is that ok with your standards?

S4 standard (105hp): after a spirited drive last week, 34 miles per imperial gallon. Would have thought that 22.6 mpg is too thirsty.

Colin.

My S4SE does about 30mpg (UK gallons) around town and around 35mpg on a long run. One of the few advantages of running on Strombergs

Your car is far to thirsty Green One in my humble, depending on how you drove those miles. I have regularly checked my every day driver Elan over many thousands of miles, and it returns 40 mpg. I do not get involved in traffic light races any longer, indeed I hardly ever go anywhere where there are traffic lights, using it mainly for longer journeys.
You should get your car on a rolling road, to optimise its settings.

May be my tacho is wrong....
I put 35 liters in the tank. I reset the odometer.
Let see how far I can get now

Mine's not a Sprint but does have the big valve....in a heavier car.
I'm about 3000 miles after a full rebuild and am currently getting about 35mph (imperial) and improving as the engine beds further.
Pre rebuild I regularly got 40+mpg.
My driving is mixed and I DO hit the redline occassionally
As stated in a previous consumption thread.....my car's consumption gets worse when parked up.....(evaporation).
Take care,
Peter

I got up to 45 mpg us on my Stromberg FHC on trips, over 35 mpg us in town. Put over 90K miles on the car. It was a strong runner, getting up to 7K RPM (the dealer adjusted the cutout) on 165-13 tyres and a 3.55 differential.
But I used different needles, lowered from stock position. The car was cold blooded in the morning until warmed up. This was over 40 years ago.

The fuel consumption of my Alfa 1600 Twincam with 2 40s Webers is only around 8.5L/100km !
C?dric: Double check your trip, mine is running way too fast (another thing i've to look at!).
Cheers,
Etienne

Take a look at your plug colour as if it is running rich you would expect the colour to be quite dark, also how is it starting from cold do you need lots of choke even for a short period that can also suggest rich running if little or no choke is required.
As for actual MPG who cares anyway just enjoy the ride.
