Con Rods

PostPost by: pwhitehouse » Fri Feb 01, 2013 11:14 pm

When dismantling my plus 2 engine recently I have had the misfortune to find two bent conrods, no cylinder head damage apparent. Does anyone know a source for standard rods? Burton Power list them but they are out of stock with none on the horizon (I presume these were old stock anyway). As its just a road car, I am reluctant to pay over ?700 for a new steel set from QED, Burton or others which seems to be the going rate. Any ideas anyone?

Hi Peter,

I have seen a set of new steel con rods for sale on Ebay, item number: 281059039125. The price is ?200, but does not include bolts. They seem to be from a company and are rated for high revs. I don't know their quality and I have no connection to them, but maybe worth a look, also you need to check rod length. Maybe some one else has used them or has some knowledge of them? There is also a set of Lotus rods, says in good used condition for ?100 on Ebay. Hope this helps.

Regards, George...

Google I.K Engineering & have a look at the rods they supply. They are steel, a worthwhile improvement & leaves you future proof if you decide to upgrade your engine at some point. Good Luck Curly 1964 S2 26Rr :D
