Water less coolant

Yes, I switched to Evans waterless coolant last autumn.
It was time to change the antifreeze so I thought why not try the Evans product.
Not been out in the car since but I do let the engine warm up in the garage. I must take the radiator cap off to check next time it reaches running temperature as no water in the system should equal no scalding steam.

I had waterless coolant as standard in my 1966 Corvair. It was called air!!!

Exactly. AHM is right. Evans waterless is propylene glycol and ethylene glycol. The heated glycol will spray out as soon as you lift the cap, scalding you.

Then why do Evans claim that it doesn't? If it did then users would mention that on here and be suing Evans.

Presumably it doesn't actually BOIL at engine temperatures, so no vast quantities will spray out even if the engine temp is greater than 100 deg C, but it will expand and any air still in the system will expand even more and if you release the cap either a small quantity of very hot scalding liquid will overflow the cap or if there is still air in the system a large quantity of scalding liquid will whoosh out. Just like the normal coolant will do at temperatures less than 100 deg C.
In cars with an expansion tank in the cooling system (not Elans) there is room for it to expand without whooshing out and the cap opens the air part of the system, so you get hot air not hot liquid, so that would be what Evans are describing, I guess. Trapped air in the Elan tends to be in the top part of the radiator where it can't be directlty vented by the cap.
