black top engine numbers??

Hi guys

Just a quick question for those with the blacktop zetec.Where are the engine numbers located? There doesnt seem to be any on the block,is this generaly the case?

The next question would be if there isnt any numbers on it then how do i go about getting one?

It's on the flat next to the crank position sensor at the flywheel end. That would be the front of the engine as mounted in the donor car.

... unless you have a crate engine from Ford. There is no number on my motor (that's not mine in the pic). Apparently replacement motors were etched by the dealer upon install.

Couldn't see the number on mine until I had removed all the paint/rust and polished the web/flat. Now I can see it, but a strong light helps my aging eye-sight
